Ebony Magazine Declares "We Are Trayvon," and Responds to Critics on Twitter

In honor of Trayvon Martin, Ebony Magazine is releasing four different covers of their September issue with the headline “We are Trayvon.” The title serves as a message to address the issue of racial discrimination, while taking

a stand in the fight for justice. One version of the magazine will feature Trayvon's family Tracy Martin, Sybrna Fulton, and younger brother Jaharis Fulton. The other versions will include Boris Kodjoe and his son, Spike Lee and his son, and finally  Dwyane Wade with his sons, all wearing grey hoodies.

While many were delighted to see such a bold stance from Ebony, others seemed to disagree with their decision. Many critics took to twitter to express their thoughts. Responses ranged from praise to disappointment.  Rumor has it that the Tea Party has decided to boycott the magazine. Now although these are just speculations, we here at Youth&Style could not help but to sit back and laugh at the thought.

"Black Twitter" even stepped in to mock the idea of the alleged boycott and to address the negative responses, sending "#WhitePeopleBoycottingEbony" to the number one trending topic for a good hour and a half.

Ebony didn't seem bothered at all by the backlash, but instead responded with some "snappy" tweets:

As fans of "shade throwing," we must say that Ebony's response has just the right amount shade. Make sure you grab a copy!
