BET Awards: Patty LaBelle Tribute; Gospel Album of the Year: Mary Mary

  Patti Labelle

Gladys Knight started the tribute to Patti Labelle off with sharing memories of how the two first met. She said she first realized that Patti could sing when she waiting back stage at the Apollo to perform and Patti was on Stage singing. Gladys had to ask herself "Who is that"? Patty Said "I don't sing too many sad love songs, I am not that girl."
Among Gladys Knight, singers Beyonce and Jill Scott both had some words about Miss Patti. Beyonce went on to say growing up "I wanted to sing like Patti LaBelle." Ceelo green took the stage to sing Somebody Loves You Baby, Marsha Ambrosius sung If only you knew, and Marsha slayed the song. Pastor Shirley Ceaser sung what a friend we have in Jesus in the Tribute to Music Icon Patti LaBelle.
The Over the Rainbow singer Patti LaBelle was almost in tears when she was presented with the 2011 Lifetime Achievement Award by close friend Gladys Knight. Patti then took to the stage singing Love, Need and Want You and Moulin Rouge. She killed the performance tearing the house down. Got to Love Patti.
Patti and Gladys looked stunning by the way. Lol at Mrs.Patti telling her fan to sit down lol. She such a beautiful person.

Mary Mary took home the Best Gospel Album Award last night at the 2011 BET AWARDS. They went on to preach about just how good God is. Giving the glory to God they went on to talk about how humble and just thankful they are to be where they are today. Ericka went on to talk about how people told her she should change what she was singing about  just so that she could have a platform. She chose to stay with God and we are with you girl.

Congrats to Mary Mary and Patti LaBelle
