NBA: Mavericks Sweep LA

Lakers Guard Kobe Bryant and Maverick Center Dirk Nowitzki
This is a very SAD day for Lakers Fan, a sad day for me too. Yesterday we had to watch as the Dallas Mavericks swept our beloved Lakers. Many thought that the possibility of the Lakers getting swept was unheard of... but it happened. Dallas move on to the conference finals after a 122-86 victory over LA. This victory ended the Lakers season and was the last game with Phil Jackson as head coach for LA.

The Lakers defense just wasn't enough for the Mavericks, who are playing at a championship level. Dallas seemed to be raining threes the whole night. They made a waping 20 3-Pointers, 9 of which came from Jason Terry. At the end of the second half Dallas was up by more than 24 points. To be completely honest the this whole series has been the Dirk and Terry show. Dirk has been playing his heart out and Terry has been shooting the lights out of the arena.

The Lakers had a great season this year, after the all-star break the Lakers went on an amazing winning streak. Their season ended with the veteran team struggling. Recent talk attributes the losing and off balanced chemistry to a beef between Laker All-stars Kobe Bryant and Pau Gasol. Apparently the Dynamic Duo had a falling out after Pau Gasol accused Kobe Bryant's wife Vanessa of breaking up his relationship with his fiance. This has been the first post-season sweep for Phil Jackson in 21 post seasons.

Lakers will not be able to do another 3-peat but I wouldn't count them out as a top contenders for next season. I'm still team Lakers and we will be back next year.
